Thank goodness I’m not just a clam or a ham or a dusty old jar of sour gooseberry jam! I am what I am! That’s a great thing to be! If I say so myself, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! — Dr. Seuss Dr. Seuss’s Birthday is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens and books. You can too! Visit your local library on March 2nd, or any other day this week, in honor of one of the greatest children authors, Dr. Seuss! |

 | | IT'S TIME TO START THINKING ABOUT SUMMER CAMPS! The Schaumburg Township Council of PTA's (STC) is offering Summer scholarships again this year for current D54 students in Kindergarten–7th grade. Please read the STC Scholarship Application information letter for more information. **Please note the parent/guardian must be a PTA member at the school attended by the child applying for the scholarship. You must be a Nerge PTA member by March 1, 2021.** Don't have a PTA membership yet? Get yours today! 
Already a PTA member? Thank you for your support! You can apply for a summer scholarship starting now through March 30, 2021.

 | | FEELING BRAVE? WANT TO TAKE THE PLUNGE FOR A GREAT CAUSE? The 2021 Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Illinois runs from Saturday, February 20th through Saturday, March 27th. This year, they are excited to provide plungers with a special Plunge At Home option. For more information, to register or donate, you can visit the Special Olympics website. BRRRRRRRRRR!!  | | CULTURAL ARTS ENHANCE OUR STUDENTS EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE! Keeping the safety of all our students in mind, we are working on scheduling a wonderful virtual Cultural Arts Assembly for all our students! More information coming soon! |

 | | TAKE THE ILLINOIS 5ESSENTIALS SURVEY TO HELP OUR SCHOOLS IMPROVE! Once again, District 54 is reaching out to families and asking you to participate in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey to provide them with your perspective and help guide our school improvement efforts. The parent survey will be available online through April 2, 2021, at survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and is available in English and Spanish. Note: the survey will time out and you will need to start over if you don’t finish in one sitting. If you have more than one child, you may complete the survey for each child. You will be asked to select your county and then your child’s school. Be aware that there are often schools with the same or similar names in the state of Illinois. Thank you for your support! |
