PTA IS NO LONGER A NOUN
– IT'S A VERB!

P·T·A
/ PEE-TEE-AY/
verb

PTA is an action plan working to support your child's success. It's an invitation to every Nerge family to participate, because we can do more together than we can do apart.

PTA to support your child's potential! There's no wrong way to PTA – just as long as you're doing it for your child.

The Nerge PTA offers all parents and caregivers the opportunity to be engaged in their child's potential. Being a member of the Nerge PTA means that you are part of a powerful association and action plan that is focused on programs and initiatives that strengthen your child's education and the family-school partnership. Membership in PTA can involve as much or as little time as you have to offer.

However you PTA, it’s all an investment in your child. PTA to support your child’s teachers and curriculum. PTA to advocate on the issues impacting your child and affect change at the local state and national levels. PTA to build a stronger, more diverse and inclusive school community. There is no wrong or right way to be involved – anything you can give, whether it is time or money, will support your child’s potential.

I PTA to bring my community together, because it takes a village to raise my children to their highest potential!

How do you PTA?

2019-2020 YEARBOOKS

Thank you to all the parents who picked up their 2019-2020 yearbooks on September 17th and to our amazing volunteers that worked so hard to get it done!

Please contact us if you still haven't picked up your 2019-2020 yearbook.

2020-2021 YEARBOOKS

At this time, it is not certain if we will have a 2020-2021 yearbook. Many variables will need to be taken into consideration when determining if it will be possible or not to produce the yearbooks for this school year. Things like the timing of our students returning to an in-person model, when school pictures are taken, and if our yearbook vendor will be available at a later than normal time frame. More information will be sent home as it becomes available.

Thank you for your patience and understanding!

STC AUCTION BASKETS

1 OR MORE CHAIRS NEEDED
Looking for a few parents to co-chair this committee with our current chair. Nerge PTA is required to submit 5 baskets to the Schaumburg Township Council (STC) of PTAs Live/Silent Auction Dinner in March. This fundraiser helps provide summer camp for current SD54 students and college scholarships for SD54 alumni.  Responsibilities include: Chair is required to attend the initial meeting to receive all necessary information and due dates. The rest of the work can be done from home at your own schedule. Distribute donation request letters to businesses around the area, purchase additional items to compliment baskets (purchases will be reimbursed) and assemble baskets. In February, deliver baskets to SD54 warehouse. Chair(s) are invited to attend the event.

6th GRADE CELEBRATION

Looking for a few parents of 6th graders to chair the Sixth Grade Celebration Committee. Responsibilities may include: Organize the end of the year celebration for all the graduating 6th grade students. Coordinate date of event with the school. Form committee to delegate jobs for catering, decorations, slide show/memory video, field trip, etc. Coordinate with Pizza Monday Chair to provide the required 6th grade parent volunteers for Pizza Mondays from January through April to help raise funds for the 6th grade celebration field trip.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION

OPEN - 1 CHAIR NEEDED
Looking for a parent to chair this committee.

Traditional Box Tops clips are being phased out of production, but may continue to be found on many products throughout stores. Box Tops clips can still be sent to school.

Eventually the Box Tops program will become digital-only. Participating brands are starting to change their packaging from a traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Top label.

Responsibilities include: Print flier from Box Tops website, copy and distribute. Periodically pick up Box Tops clips from school and mail them to General Mills.

2 ADVISOR/EDITOR/YEARBOOK CHAIRS NEEDED
Do you have creativity and/or computer skills? We are looking for a parent or two to work with our current yearbook chair during her last year at Nerge and learn the ropes on how to create the Nerge yearbook. Responsibilities include: Provide guidance and direction on the yearbook. Develops the yearbook’s theme and style. Prepare templates and overall layout. Seek and develop content, requesting photos from each teacher, and ensuring that a photographer is present at any school event that may need coverage. Ensure that every student’s photo is in the yearbook, and that there is even coverage of all the groups across our school. Supervise the design team of volunteers from each classroom to prepare yearbook spreads. Review and correct errors on each page. Ensure deadlines are met and submit each page for publication. Organize the yearbook cover design contest, yearbook budget, marketing, sales, distribution, and assist the Nerge Tech Club. Most of the work is done from home.

NO ONE can do everything, but EVERYONE can do something!
BE A VOLUNTEER!

Please email the Nerge PTA if you are interested in chairing or assisting on a committee.
